Kissimmee is technically the closest community to Disneyworld, and its close proximity to the attractions at Lake Buena Vista (home of Disneyworld), and Orlando make it a popular tourism destination. The city is a family orientated one, with plenty of kid-friendly activities, themed restaurants and theaters, swamp tours and outdoor attractions.
Kissimmee has a pleasant downtown centered around Kissimmee Lakefront Park. An interesting feature is the Monument of States, which is made of minerals from every state and many different nations. Look out for the murals depicting the town’s past as a cattle capital, where present-day rodeos and cattle auctions keep the town rooted.

Recently the New York Times ranked Kissimmee the third best place to buy a vacation home in the country based on price and location.
